Scorpion Taekwondo was founded in 1988 by our chief Instructor Peter Adamsons in Doncaster. Since then the club has had an amazing story from new clubs and coaches to Olympic athletes. From starting in church halls and community centres to now our Not for profit academy headquarters is a fulltime training venue that is fully matted and kitted out to practice Taekwondo at any level and has been recognised by GB Taekwondo who manage Great Britain’s World class performance programme as a GB Talent club. Over the years we have developed many students from building their fitness and confidence and progressing to black belt to guiding many students to European, World & Olympic team members and medallists.

Our team also organise National competitions and championships. We have held competitions in Doncaster, Sheffield, Barnsley, Peterborough, Selby and Glasgow including many fight night competitions across the years. We have also hosted the British Taekwondo AGM, British Taekwondo Black belt Grading, British Taekwondo referee courses, countless seminars and other events for our members. We also hosted an international training camp at the new Doncaster University College and held one of the European Taekwondo International coaching courses at the same venue.

Over the years we have had clubs all over the country in the UK. From our home base in Doncaster to surrounding areas  and also Mexborough, Gainsborough, Haxey, Westwoodside, Carlton in Lindrick, Goole, Barnsley, Goldthorpe, Darfield, Wath, Thurnscoe, Wakefield, Bradford, Selby, Scunthorpe, Boston, Peterborough, Bedworth, Coventry, Spennymoor & Glasgow. Many of the clubs are still running today with many of our Scorpion trained coaches & instructors going on to form their own clubs.

We have also had a very strong representation of referees in the sparring side of the sport. This includes class 3, class 2, class 1 and currently Clare Laybourne who is a qualified International referee and International Para Referee.

Our sparring team has had remarkable success over the years. We have been British National Team Champions 9 times and won many Team awards in the UK and around the World.
